The Importance of the 23 Things Project

We are part of an industry that is constantly evolving due to technologly and
23 Things has helped to bring some of the new techologly to the forefront.
Web 2.0 provides a wealth of information resources and entertainment and being introduced to some of the sites has enhanced my technical competence.
Knowing about some of these sites will be helpful when hepling customers and referenecs made to things like Podcast and Avatar will not sound so foreign.
Since many of the resources are free there are no barries to accessing these sites,
libary staff can help provide customers with a useful,informative and fun web expierence.

Week 9, Thing 23-Summary

What a learning experience! I enjoyed this so much more then I expected.
My favorites were YouTube, podcast, creating an Avatar and Librarything.
Least favorite, Rollyo.
My vocabulary has expanded to include words like, Podacst, Vodcast, RSS and Avatar.
I found most of the sites user friendly and the pace of the program comfortable.
Blogging was something I thought I would dislike but found I didn't mind it at all.It was fun customizing my page.In fact, I think I may go back and tweak it a bit.
Perhaps the next program could take place sometime other than during the summer reading program when most branches are crazy busy.I think staff would enjoy it even more.
I worked on this program at home and it was time very well spent. I learned alot .
I would register for another online program in a heartbeat.

Week 9, Thing 22- Audiobooks

Explored all the discovery resources .
CCPL subscribs to Overdrive so I spent time at this site .
Place a hold on a title I hope to download on the MP3 player I will recieve for the completion of this program.

Week 9 , Thing 21 -Podcast

In this exercise I explored all the recommeded sites. I was able to find many with library related topics. I choose to add the RSS feed from Merlin, SirsiDynix Institute, which had several podcast attached to the one feed.

Week 9, Thing 20-YouTube

I had lots of fun exploring YouTube.
I chose this music video because I really enjoy music of the Celtic Women.
I hope to attend a concert, with any Irish luck it will be in Ireland
I have a tendency to be drawn to all things Irish.

Week 8, Thing 19- Web2.0 Awards List

I spent alot of time viewing the adwards list.
There is a hugh amount of some really cool sites that I was totally unaware of.
One Sentence was very entertaining.
Reddit is a fun and quirky news site that I added to my favorites.

Week 8, Thing 18-Online Productivity

I have created an account in Zoho, Google Docs and 30 Boxes, which I came across
in the list of free online sharing.I think Zoho and Google Docs would be great for
small business.
30 Boxes is a organization/ things to do calendar that will be very useful in my professional and personal life I intend to share this site with my family.
